On Wednesday, 6/7/2022, EcoPalestine / EcoPeace Middle East conducted a voluntary cleaning campaign for the Al-Auja Spring in the Jordan Valey under the title "Our Spring is Clean", in cooperation with the Joint Services Council in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, which included cleaning the spring and educating visitors to preserve the site for its environmental and natural importance.
Volunteers from all over the West Bank participated in the campaign, as they cleaned the stream of the main spring from the accumulated dirt in it. Mr. Fakhri Nujoum, Mayor of Al-Auja Municipality, expressed his interest in the place, saying, "We are keen to protect the place, which is an outlet for all the Palestinian people. Today we hope to increase the number of garbage bins here to keep the spring clean and for visitors to enjoy the place."
Nada Majdalani, Director of EcoPalestine, had participated with the staff in the campaign to clean up the spring stream. She says, "We constantly conduct tours with students, teachers and many environmentalists in order to keep our presence in this area as Palestinians, especially it is threatened by settlement and annexation."
EcoPalestine regularly conducts field tours for students and visitors in the Jordan Valley and many Palestinian areas to familiarize those interested in these places, and their importance.
